Mega trade in the NBA: Kevin Durant joins the Rockets

Mega trade in the NBA: Kevin Durant joins the Rockets

The Houston Rockets are acquiring 15-time All-Star and four-time Olympic gold medalist Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal reached Sunday, according to a person with knowledge of the deal.

The Rockets are giving up Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green, and six future draft picks, including the 10th overall pick in the first round of this year's draft, which takes place Wednesday.

This ends weeks of speculation about where Durant would end up. Several teams were involved at various times, including Miami and Minnesota, but Phoenix ultimately accepted the Rockets' offer.

Fans learned the news while Durant was on stage in New York at Fanatics Fest NYC, and as they began to react, Durant began to smile widely.

“Let’s see, man,” Durant said from the stage. “Let’s see.”

Boardroom, the growing media company Durant and his business partner, Rich Kleiman, co-founded in 2019, partners with Fanatics on several projects. The panel Durant appeared on Sunday was called “Global Game Changers.”

He's certainly expected to be a game-changer for the Rockets. Houston finished second in the Western Conference in the regular season, albeit 16 games behind No. 1 Oklahoma City. Now they're adding a two-time champion to their young core as they look to take another leap next season.— AP
