Rayados achieved their objective at the Rose Bowl , defeating Urawa Red Diamonds 4-0 in Matchday 3 of the 2025 Club World Cup Group Stage, securing their qualification for the tournament's Round of 16.

Domènec Torrent's team showed intensity from the start. Alfonso Alvarado had the first chance, heading against the crossbar. Soon after, the goals began to arrive in a span of less than ten minutes, setting the tone for the match.

In the 30th minute, Nelson Deossa opened the scoring with a powerful shot from outside the box that beat the Japanese goalkeeper. The move came after Urawa failed to play out from the back.

Four minutes later, Jesús “Tecatito” Corona broke down the right flank and sent a precise pass to Germán Berterame, who crossed to make it 2-0. The third goal came in the 39th minute, when Corona found a loose ball outside the box and volleyed home to extend the lead to 3-0 before halftime.

With the current result, Monterrey moved into second place in Group E, behind Inter Milan , and with a clear chance of qualifying.

In the second half, Rayados lowered their intensity but maintained control of the match. Urawa tried to react unsuccessfully against a well-organized defense.

In stoppage time, Berterame appeared again. At 90+7', the Argentine striker sealed the scoring after a team play that began in midfield, scoring his second goal of the match and Monterrey 's fourth.

Rayados ' next match will be against Borussia Dortmund of Germany , on Tuesday, July 1, at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
