MotoGP legend Jorge Lorenzo: "Marc Márquez is a very average guy, but on the track he's a killer."

Jorge Lorenzo has been one of the greatest Spanish motorcycle racers. The Mallorcan has won five World Championships , three of them in the premier class. A few months ago, he appeared on YouTuber Jordi Wild's podcast. In the interview, he spoke about Marc Márquez , his personal life, and their relationship.

“As a person, he's a very normal, small-town guy , but on the track, he's a killer, just like me, just like Pedrosa, just like Stoner, and just like Rossi. He was even more of a killer; he didn't mind knocking you off the track , and in fact, he knocked over many riders in 125, 250, and even in MotoGP. He literally knocked them over, and he paid for it many times over,” Lorenzo said.

The former driver explained the Catalan's great danger on the track: " He was very dangerous as a rival because he was the only one who didn't mind getting hurt ; the rest of us didn't want to get hurt. That made him dangerous; he didn't care if he fell or broke something."

Lorenzo also highlighted Márquez 's winning mentality: “He was a pit bull; he wouldn't accept a second or third place. If Stoner or Pedrosa were having a bad day, they would secure the points for second or third and then think about the next race, but not him; he wanted to beat you every time. And when you find someone like that, it's tough. On the one hand, he's won so much because of that boundless ambition of always wanting to win, but it's also led to many crashes , and that crash at Jerez in 2020 has kept him from winning the last three or four world championships.”

Finally, he spoke about Marc 's technique on the bike: "He's a beast physically and in terms of ambition. Technically, he was a guy who did everything under braking , while I was the opposite, sacrificing braking to get a lot of cornering done and preparing for the exit. He made up for everything under braking and lost very little during acceleration. He was technically good, but I also put a lot of balls into it."
