Multiple car accident before Espanyol-Barcelona match; several injured

BARCELONA — Barcelona police reported several people were injured when a female driver lost control and plowed into a crowd gathered outside a Spanish league soccer match on Thursday. Police in Catalonia classified the incident as an accident.

The incident occurred in the opening minutes of Barcelona's match at the stadium of city rivals Espanyol.

Police said the initial death toll was seven or eight injured after the vehicle plowed into the crowd outside the RCDE Stadium south of Barcelona.
