Neither Lomónaco nor Loyola: the star that Independiente could lose in this transfer market

Neither Lomónaco nor Loyola: the star that Independiente could lose in this transfer market

Just when all eyes were pointing directly at Kevin Lomónaco and Felipe Loyola as Independiente 's main candidates for transfers in this transfer market, suddenly there's another star whose continuity hangs in the balance. Álvaro Angulo , the Avellaneda team's scoring left-back, is being tempted by Pumas de México since their coach knows him from Atlético Nacional de Medellín. Is he leaving?

As the hours pass, Angulo's departure gains momentum, although no one at the Reds is yet willing to let him go. Efraín Juárez , the Mexican coach of Pumas , asked for Angulo, and the North American club put a lucrative contract on the table for the 28-year-old player.

Several talks have taken place over the past week. Manager Julio Vaccari spoke with the defender. Management also met with him and his agent. They offered him a salary increase despite having only arrived at the Diablo six months ago and still having a contract until the end of 2027. However, the offer from Independiente is still far from the tempting figure promised in Mexico.

So? In Avellaneda, they suggested that if he wants to emigrate, it must be through a sale and suggested they were open to offers, as long as they satisfy the institution's financial situation. Pumas is expected to formalize its interest in the coming hours.

Meanwhile, Vaccari is very interested in a Pumas striker, the Argentine former Huracán player Ignacio Pussetto, who played 32 matches and scored 8 goals last season. This is when Avellaneda is looking to put the famous trade plan on the table. However, it won't be a one-on-one deal, as the Devil's intention is to exchange Angulo for Pussetto and, in addition, earn him a sum close to $2 million.

Everything is in full swing, and the offer is expected to be formalized to move forward. Meanwhile, Angulo, who has played 23 matches and scored four goals in the red shirt so far, is undergoing preseason under Vaccari's direction. He already has two new faces: right winger Walter Mazzantti and right back Leonardo Godoy.

This Saturday, Independiente will play an informal friendly against Atlético Tucumán, starting at 9 a.m. behind closed doors at the Villa Domínico stadium.
