Nico Williams' contract with Barça expires: Athletic Club extends contract until 2035 and increases buyout clause by more than 50%.

Athletic Club has confirmed that Nico Williams has extended his contract with the club until 2035, a further eight seasons, and that his release clause has been increased by "more than 50% of what it was before."

"When decisions have to be made, for me, what weighs most is the heart. I'm where I want to be, with my family, this is my home. Aupa Athletic!" Williams declared in the video in which the club announced his renewal.

Athletic Club and Nico Williams have reached an agreement to extend his contract, which was due to expire in 2027, for eight seasons until June 30, 2035. His buyout clause has increased by more than 50% compared to the previous one.

This latest display of loyalty marks a milestone in the history of the Red and Whites and confirms a path of trust in the sporting project already initiated by, among other teammates, Unai Simón, Oihan Sancet, Dani Vivian, Mikel Jauregizar, Beñat Prados, and Ernesto Valverde himself... and, of course, his brother Iñaki Williams, the captain of this already historic and generational team. He will continue to wear the number 10 inherited from Iker Muniain, with the Champions League as his new stage. Nico Williams (Iruñea, 2002) joined Athletic Club as an Alevín player in the 2013/14 season, a year after his brother Iñaki arrived at Lezama. Since then, he has completed all the stages of his development at Athletic until his debut as a León on April 28, 2021, at just 18 years old. In his five seasons so far with the first team, he has played a total of 167 official matches and has won a Cup title, in addition to qualifying for the Europa League (where the team reached the semi-finals) and for the Champions League this past season.

Nico Williams' contribution to Athletic in recent seasons has been decisive, making a difference in attack thanks to his speed and speed, scoring 31 goals, creating numerous chances, and proving a constant nightmare for opposing defenses.
