Ponferradina and Andorra are just hours away from either team returning to professional football. The Andorran team and the Bierzo club face off in the second leg of the playoff final for promotion to LaLiga Hypermotion from the Primera RFEF.
Both clubs are playing for promotion at El Toralín, after drawing 1-1 in the first leg of the final played at Encamp Stadium on Sunday, June 15. Now, the capital of El Bierzo will decide who advances in the division in the match that will take place this Saturday, June 21, at 8:30 p.m.
In the first leg, Borja Valle put the Bierzo team ahead in the first half, while Manu Nieto equalized for the Andorrans in the second, leaving everything up in the air for the return leg.
Andorra advanced to the final after beating UD Ibiza 3-0 on aggregate in the semifinals, with Lautaro de León leading the way with a pair of goals. Meanwhile, the Castilian-Leonese side defeated Antequera 2-2 in their tie, with José Luis Cortés scoring a brace in the 180 minutes, and taking advantage of their position in the table to benefit from the tiebreaker.
Gerard Piqué, owner of Andorra, is seeking support for the match against Ponferrada at El Toralín. The former Barcelona player has promised to cover the ticket and bus costs for those who decide to travel to Ponferrada to cheer on the Andorran players in El Bierzo.
