Spain made their European Under-21 Championship debut against the host nation, just as they had in the previous three tournaments. The team coached by Santi Denia opened their campaign with a 3-2 victory over Slovakia in a tournament that will run until June 28, the day of the final, and in which the national team is one of the favorites.
The Spanish team was crowned champion under Luis de la Fuente in 2019 and finished runner-up in the last tournament , held in 2023, losing in the final to England. To date, La Rojita has a total of 12 medals to her name: 5 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze.
A total of 16 teams will participate in the 2025 European competition, divided into four groups of four, with the top two teams from each section advancing to the knockout rounds.

The Spain-Romania match, corresponding to the second matchday of the group stage of the Under-21 European Championship , will be played at 6:00 p.m. CEST at the Štadión Tehelné Pole in Slovakia this Saturday, June 14.
