The 18-year-old Chilean player who fainted during training is beginning to wake up from a coma

A week ago, during a Coquimbo Unido training session, football was put on the back burner when they saw how Natsumy Millones , an 18-year-old forward, collapsed to the ground in convulsions. The medical services rushed to assist her and immediately transferred her to the San Pablo Hospital where she had to be put into an induced coma and remain on assisted ventilation. But there is positive news about her situation, as local media reports that she is "waking up" from the coma.
"He is waking up and has not had any seizures so far," explains the medical report published by the Chilean newspaper 'El Mercurio'.
The footballer has made positive progress: "Her sedative levels have been gradually reduced and as of Monday (February 24) she is not under any sedation," explained the medical services of the city of Coquimbo, located 460 kilometers from Santiago, where she had been on mechanical ventilation.
The player, who participated with La Roja in the 2022 U-17 World Cup in India, was training with the 'pirate' team last Wednesday, in preparation for the start of the women's league in March when she collapsed on the field and had to be taken to the emergency room.
The hospital had previously announced that Millones' return to consciousness would be gradual, based on the results of the tests.
After the collapse, the Chilean press reported that the forward is suffering from a neurological condition for which she is being medicated and that she had medical authorization to carry out physical activity.

Chilean football has shown its support with messages of support for the player over the past weekend. The Chilean women's national team displayed a shirt that read: "Strength Natsumy," prior to the friendly match they played last Saturday against Argentina in Santiago. That same day, the Coquimbo Unido men's and women's teams took to the field together, prior to the Chilean league match against Universidad Católica at home, with a banner that read: "Strength and courage, Natsumy. Coquimbo is with you."
An update on Millones' progress is expected to be provided by San Pablo Hospital midweek.
