The Colombian U-17 women's national team is doing the math in pursuit of their dream: winning their second South American title.

The Colombian U-17 Women's National Team is holding on to its faith and its mathematical chances of winning the South American title in the tournament it is playing at home. This Saturday, at 3:30 p.m., the team will face Brazil in pursuit of the continental dream. The game will be broadcast on Caracol and RCN HD2, as well as on DSports.
Carlos Paniagua's team had a clean sheet in the final hexagonal, but it was broken at the worst possible time. The 1-0 defeat against Paraguay put the team on the ropes, and they no longer have the confidence to win the championship.

The team's hopes inevitably lie in defeating a team that has won five of the eight editions of the tournament, but is out of the title race this time. And then, they'll have to sit in the stands of the Pascual Guerrero Stadium, rooting for a tie between Paraguay and Ecuador, who are in first and second place, respectively, in the final matchday of the hexagonal tournament and will enter the field knowing the results of their opponents, as the match starts at 6 p.m.
If there is a winner in that match, the team that earns the three points will secure a first-ever crown. And if Colombia is crowned champion, it will be the second time it has achieved this feat in this category, following the historic title in the first edition of the tournament, held in Chile in 2008, which proved to be the genesis of the generation that qualified for the first two World Cups, in Germany 2011 and Canada 2015.
Carlos Paniagua has not lost faith in winning the South American title for Colombia.

Paniagua acknowledged that, despite the defeat against Paraguay, the team didn't play poorly, and he's holding onto his chances of success. "It's a bitter taste, because I think it was one of the good games the girls played. We recognized the group's improvement in football, and now we have to recover mentally to finish well on Saturday. Mathematically, there's still a chance, and as long as there's a chance of a title, we'll go for it," the Antioquia coach said on Wednesday.
The coach who led Colombia to its first FIFA tournament final three years ago, in this same category, asked for the fans' support to fill the Pascual stadium.
“First and foremost, it's very important to express our gratitude to the Cali fans because they've supported us from start to finish. In this last game, where we have a chance at the title, it's important to tell the fans to support us. This team qualified for the World Cup, and on Saturday (today), we're going to give it our all on the field,” Paniagua insisted.
It's worth remembering that this South American tournament awarded four spots for the U-17 Women's World Cup, which will be played between late October and early November in Morocco. These spots have already been determined: Paraguay, Ecuador, Colombia, and Brazil will represent CONMEBOL in the tournament.
