The Colombian women's national soccer team loses its second friendly against Mexico before the Copa América.
The Colombian women's national team lost 1-0 to Mexico on Wednesday, July 2, in the second friendly match between the two teams. This match served as the national team's preparations for the Copa América, which kicks off next Wednesday in Ecuador.
The Colombian national team, which had notable absences such as Linda Caicedo, Carolina Arias and Mayra Ramírez , had a first half that was back and forth but without a real scoring opportunity, beyond the attempts of defender Yorelín Carabalí , who tried from mid-range and had a good shot, among other approaches.
Mexico had moments of dangerous attack, but always found goalkeeper Natalia Giraldo very alert, as in the 15th minute when she stopped a header from Diana Ordóñez, which was already going in.

That was the toughest stretch for Colombia in the early part, with several dangerous attacks and demanding Giraldo.
At the start of the second half, Mexico took the lead with everything, and Giraldo once again made a powerful comeback to keep his goal out. Mexico then tested again with a shot from Ordóñez. Colombia, which already had Leicy Santos among its substitutes , slowly responded.

But in the 58th minute, Mexico's goal came. Diana Ordóñez, the most persistent player of the entire match, broke Carabalí, entered the box, and shot low to finally beat the Colombian goalkeeper.
Catalina Usme attempted to equalize with a dangerous shot, but the ball was deflected by the Mexican goalkeeper. There was a scare for the national team towards the end of the game when Ana María Guzmán suffered a problem with her right leg and had to be substituted. The shot was agonizing for Àngelo Marisiglia's team, as goalkeeper Giraldo saved her goal once again with a powerful shot.

The Colombian national team, which had already drawn 0-0 against Mexico in its first friendly, demonstrated in its two matches that it lacks goalscoring prowess and struggles to finish. It also misses Linda, out with viral gastroenteritis, and Mayra, due to injury. Both are expected to be available for the official competition.
