The Colombian women's national team is facing a difficult time in the friendlies against Mexico, the last before the Copa América.

Colombian women's national team coach Ángelo Marsiglia once again called on the team's experienced core for the final two friendlies before playing the Copa América in Ecuador, starting July 16.
Before the debut against Venezuela in Quito, Colombia will play two matches against the Mexican national team, on June 27 in Ciudad Juárez and on July 2 in Zacatepec.
The group will meet in Bogotá on June 23 and 24, and then travel to the venue for the first meeting.
The big news on the 23-player roster is the return of Werder Bremen goalkeeper Catalina Pérez and Washington Spirit midfielder Leicy Santos. The team's two key figures, Linda Caicedo and Mayra Ramírez, return, as does the team's all-time leading scorer, Catalina Usme.

Pérez returns after nearly a year of absence. His last match with the national team was on July 13, 2024, against Ecuador. He then suffered a knee injury from which he has now recovered.

Santos, for his part, was not included in the last squad, in which Colombia played two matches against South Korea, resulting in one win and one draw.

The national team will return to Bogotá on July 4, and three days later will begin its final training camp for the Copa América.
Colombia was placed in Group B of the tournament, along with the reigning champion, Brazil, Paraguay, Venezuela, and Bolivia.
The top two finishers in the Copa América will earn a spot in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, while the next three will qualify for the 2027 Lima Pan American Games, where Peru already has a spot as the host country.
It's worth remembering that, starting with this edition, the Copa América is no longer a qualifier for the FIFA Women's World Cup, which will now have qualifying rounds, just like the men's tournament. The latter will begin in the second half of this year.
