The Navy Marathon celebration begins with the distribution of kits for the Sunday event.

MÉRIDA.- Everything is ready for the 2025 Navy Marathon to take place this Sunday at 4:30 a.m., which already had its first party.

This Saturday, June 7 , the kit distribution and inauguration of an expo took place, where sponsors and organizers set up their stands to offer their products and services prior to the start of this traditional sporting event , which this calendar year celebrates its 36th anniversary , returning to its traditional route from Mérida to Progreso.

The event will begin at the Monument to the Fatherland and end at the Malecón de Progreso , next to the Meteorite Museum.

Armín Lizama Córdova, director of the Sports Institute, cut the ribbon for the Marathon Expo at the Hyatt Hotel, where runners were given out their kits, including their shirts and participation numbers.

He was accompanied by Dulce Larraga Juárez, representative of the Port Authority; Manuel Lezama Góngora, director of logistics for the Progreso City Council; Frigate Captain Noé Cruz Magaña, representative of the Naval Zone; Manuel Gil Acereto, operational coordinator of this Marathon; and Astrid Novelo Rosas, director of Volaré.

The marathon will start at 4:30 a.m. tomorrow, Sunday, from the Monument to the Fatherland for the 42.195-kilometer race and the relay event, while the half marathon will start from the Komchén Bridge, next to the entrance to Anáhuac University, at 6 a.m.

There will be a cash prize of 350,000 pesos distributed among all winners.

The youth band Muuk Balam was present at the Marathon Expo, attracting the attention of runners who took photos with its members. The 3,000 registered participants attended to collect their race packages for Sunday's race.
