The Diablos Rojos del México became the first team to reach 50 wins in the current season of the Mexican Baseball League (LMB) after securing victory in a doubleheader against the Guerreros de Oaxaca, played yesterday at the Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium.
In the first of these matches, which had to be played yesterday after being suspended on Wednesday due to heavy rain in Mexico City, the Scarlet Team defeated their opponent 5-4. Meanwhile, in the second match, the Pingos crushed the Oaxacan team 14-7.
With these victories, the capital team took the series 2-1, having managed to overcome the defeat they suffered in the first game, where they fell 9-1.
In the decisive game to determine the series winner, the Oaxaca Warriors took the lead in the second inning thanks to a run by Abraham Almonte; however, the Oaxaca Warriors reacted quickly and tied the score at 1-1 with a run by Rio Ruiz.
The visitors took the lead again (2-1) in the third inning after Alexi Amarista hit a home run to center field.
However, two six-run rallies , one in that same inning and another in the fourth, gave the Diablos Rojos a 13-2 lead that was unattainable for the Oaxacan team. In the sixth inning , the capital team sealed the 14-7 victory with a run by Juan Carlos Gamboa.
