The RFEF presents its football calendars: the classics return to October and May in LaLiga.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation presented the official football and futsal calendars for the 2025/2026 season on Tuesday under the banner of "The Root Where Football Is Born ." All eyes were on the LaLiga EA Sports Clásicos, which will be held on October 26 at the Santiago Bernabéu (Matchday 10) and on May 10, 2026, at Camp Nou (Matchday 35).

Also, of course, the importance of the derbies, matches of the greatest rivalry between fans. The Madrid team will play on September 28 (Matchday 7) at the Metropolitano and on March 22 (Matchday 29) at the Real Madrid stadium. The Seville team will first play at the Sánchez Pizjuán on November 30 (Matchday 14) and then at the Benito Villamarín on March 1 (Matchday 26). Finally, the Basque team will be played on November 2 (Matchday 11) at Anoeta and on February 1, 2026 (Matchday 22) at San Mamés.

In addition to the First Division calendar, the RFEF has also announced the dates for LaLiga Hypermotion, which will feature the newly promoted teams: Cultural Leonesa, Ceuta, Andorra, and Real Sociedad B; LaLiga F, the RFEF First Division for both men and women; and the Men's and Women's First Division of Futsal.

These schedules will be asymmetrical, as in recent years, and will feature three midweek matchdays and a total of five FIFA dates for qualifying for next year's World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where Spain is one of the favorites.

Previously, the RFEF had already announced some important dates in the elite football calendar, such as the final of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, which will be played on April 25, 2025, a competition that will begin in September, and the Spanish Super Cup, which will be played between January 7 and 11, 2026, in Saudi Arabia. LaLiga EA Sports will begin on August 15, 16, and 17 and will conclude between May 22, 23, and 24, 2026.

The event unveiled these calendars was the small town of San Juan de la Nava in Ávila. "It was a surprise for everyone," said the town's mayor, Carlos Díaz , and emphasized, "We are Spain too," referring to the small towns that are slowly becoming depopulated.

In fact, the Federation wanted to pay tribute to the emptied Spain by bringing this event to a town of 426 inhabitants, according to the census, which has lost three-quarters of its population in recent decades. For the RFEF, it represents the role that "football currently plays as a means of unity and belonging in the rural world, in addition to symbolizing some of the finest human values ​​associated with this sport."

This granite enclave, with mostly stone buildings, including the Plaza Mayor, where the event took place, has a soccer field built thanks to donations from its residents and named after referee Juan Carlos Yuste Jiménez . The residents wanted to show their respect and recognition for the work of the refereeing community.

The event was attended not only by the town's mayor, but also by the President of Castilla León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco , and, of course, by the President of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán . "The football capital of Spain is called San Juan de la Nava," Louzán emphasized, emphasizing that "football was born here, in the rural environment."
