Two men, professional Real Cartagena players, were traveling in the vehicle. They were unharmed but suffered several injuries. Hours later, the club issued a statement regarding the health status of Christian Marrugo and Carlos Jr. Mosquera.

Video of the horrific aftermath quickly went viral on social media, showing the Fiat vehicle completely mangled at the front.
Furthermore, it was found that, after the accident, the car's airbags deployed, protecting the two occupants who were heading to the football club's training session after a day off last Sunday.

According to what is known about the accident, Mosquera decided to attend training with Marrugo. While traveling on the road that connects Cordialidad with Vía al Mar , a van allegedly crossed into the lane and collided with them head-on.
The driver, aware of what had happened, decided to drive off and quickly flee the scene of the accident, abandoning the two victims in the middle of the road. Fortunately, the videos show the two soccer players unharmed and how they were able to get out of the vehicle on their own.

Hours later, Real Cartagena issued a statement on social media, offering reassuring updates on the health of its players . "Our captain, Christian Marrugo, and our goalkeeper, Carlos Jr. Mosquera, were involved in a car accident while on their way to training, with no major consequences to report," the statement began.
According to the statement, the two men were sent to the Serena del Mar clinic in the capital of Bolívar, where their condition and the severity of their injuries were evaluated. According to the medical report, "Marrugo suffered a minor scalp injury, while Mosquera suffered some bruises to his shoulder, with no major complications."

The team also announced that they are closely monitoring the subsequent evaluations of the two players and wished them a speedy recovery for the upcoming matches in the final stretch of the Colombian second-tier soccer tournament.
The team's next match will be against Barranquilla, as part of Matchday 14 of the championship, on May 6th at the Jaime Morón Stadium, where the home team will seek to consolidate its position among the top eight teams and secure a direct spot in the final four.
