Home remedies are often excellent allies when it comes to illnesses. Although it's always advisable to consult a health professional , this vegetable under your pillow can be of great help if you have airway inflammation or a persistent cough. What is it, and how can you maximize its benefits?
According to "Mejor con Salud," onions are infallible when it comes to relieving flu and congestion. This vegetable releases sulfur compounds and polyphenols that, when inhaled, can help clear the airways, reduce irritation, and calm coughing attacks, facilitating a better night's rest. This method is based on the mucolytic and anti-inflammatory properties of onions, which help thin mucus. Therefore, it is recommended to place them under your pillow or on your nightstand. In just a few hours, you will be able to breathe easier, although some people prefer to use them in other ways, for example:
Onion and Honey Syrup: Slice the onion, place it in an airtight container, and cover it completely with raw honey. Let it sit for several hours or overnight to allow the onion to release its juices and blend with the honey. This syrup can be taken straight or added to hot tea to soothe a sore throat and reduce coughing.

What are onions on feet for?The benefits of onions aren't limited to placing them under your pillow; some also recommend placing them between the arch of your foot, securing them with a sock to keep them in place throughout the night while you sleep. This way, you can:
1. Eliminate bacteria, germs and toxins from the body, acting as a natural antibiotic and helping to purify the blood.
2. Improve blood circulation during rest.
3. Strengthen the immune system thanks to the vitamin C and other antioxidants present in onions.
4. Reduce foot odor and combat fungal infections such as athlete's foot.
5. Help control blood pressure and improve sleep quality.
Although very simple to perform, these treatments should be considered a complement to, not a substitute for, professional medical treatment.
