Dominican Republic seeks to establish itself as a sports destination with a triathlon

On May 4, 2025, the Dominican Republic will host the Ironman Cap Cana competition. According to the island's tourism promotion office, this event positions the country as a key triathlon destination in the region .
In its second edition, this challenge will bring together athletes from around the world in a route that combines physical demands with the natural landscapes of the Caribbean .
Located on the east coast of the Dominican Republic, Cap Cana offers suitable conditions for participants. Its natural beauty and services make this destination the perfect place for this type of sports experience .
The course will challenge athletes with a 1.9 km swim in the protected waters of the Atlantic Ocean, followed by a 90 km bike ride through paths surrounded by tropical vegetation, culminating in a 21.1 km run through the Cap Cana Marina, with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea and a closing event at Juanillo Beach.

With more than 2,000 participants expected from more than 37 countries , athletes from Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the United States and Costa Rica will be the most represented.
