How to sign up for the Imserso thermal spa program 2025-2026: dates, requirements and how to apply

Traveling is living, even as we get older. For many seniors, leaving home, discovering new places, and enjoying peaceful and enriching experiences has become a way to stay active, take care of their health, and break free from routine. Traveling not only provides emotional well-being; it also promotes movement, social interaction, and a connection with oneself.
With this philosophy, the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services (Imserso) maintains the Thermal Spa Program, an initiative that provides access to spa stays at reduced prices. These getaways combine relaxation, therapeutic treatments, and activities designed to improve quality of life.
What does the program include? The Imserso Thermalism Program for 2026 offers 197,000 places, distributed among the participating spas and organized in different shifts.
Each stay includes accommodation in a double room with full board and a supervised therapeutic program. Upon arrival, participants undergo a medical examination to determine the most appropriate treatment. During their stay, the professional team at each spa monitors their progress, while guests also enjoy complimentary leisure activities. The package also includes an insurance policy.
The 10-day, nine-night stays will take place between February and December 2026. The experience is designed to run smoothly, from noon on the day of arrival until noon on the day of departure. Most of the spas integrate a hotel and thermal area within the same complex, allowing guests to easily move between therapies and relaxation areas.
The centers have, at a minimum, fully equipped double rooms, seasonal heating, a dining room, a television room , and social spaces where activities are organized. Treatments vary depending on the establishment, but always fall within the range of services outlined in the call for proposals.
Although travel to and from the spa is the responsibility of each user, in some cases —those contemplated in Annex III of the resolution— the center assumes the transport from an agreed location, facilitating access at the beginning and end of the shift.
Requirements of the Imserso Thermalism ProgramThe Imserso Thermalism Program allows older people to access thermal stays and treatments at reduced prices, provided they meet a series of basic conditions.
Among the main requirements are residency in Spain and receipt of a retirement, permanent disability, or widow's pension; those receiving other types of pensions or subsidies from age 60 onwards are also eligible, as are those insured or beneficiaries of the Social Security system aged 65 or over. Furthermore, it is essential to require thermal treatment as prescribed by a doctor and to have no health contraindications that would prevent its application.
Applicants must be able to perform basic daily living activities independently and meet the established criteria for admission to one of the available shifts. As in previous years, placement depends on the availability of the requested spa.
The program also allows travel with a spouse or partner , even if they do not meet the age or pension requirements; children with a disability of 45% or more can also be included, provided they share a room with their parents. A place is only confirmed upon express notification from Imserso.
How do I apply for the position?Applications to participate in the Imserso Thermal Spa Program in 2026 can be submitted from November 4, 2025, to October 31, 2026 , following the two established deadlines. The program offers 197,000 places , which will be distributed among the spas and time slots included in the campaign.
Applications must be submitted using the official application form , accompanied by the corresponding declaration of responsibility. Once received and verified, the places will be allocated following the same procedure as in previous years.
To submit the application, Imserso recommends using the online method as it is the fastest and simplest. The process can be completed on the agency's website without the need for digital identification (Cl@ve, electronic certificate, or electronic ID card). Alternatively, the form can be downloaded from the website and submitted electronically, through authorized offices, or by regular mail—in a stamped, non-certified envelope—to the following address: Imserso Thermalism Program, P.O. Box 61.285, 28080 Madrid, Spain .
