Registration opens for Imserso spas in 2026: prices, requirements and how to apply
Once again, registration is open for the Imserso Thermal Spa Program . For 2026, the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services is offering 197,000 places (3.4% more than last year) so that retirees and pensioners can enjoy a few days of relaxation at one of the country's spas. Specifically, they can choose from 75 thermal centers located throughout Spain.
When does the application period for Thermalism 2026 open?Those interested in registering for the Imserso Thermal Spa Program have two application periods. The first, for stays from February to August , is open from November 4th to December 4th, 2025. The second, for stays from September to December , runs until May 15th, 2026 .
On the other hand, if all places are filled, retirees can register on a waiting list to fill any vacancies that arise due to withdrawals or other circumstances. For the February-August session, participants will have until May 14, 2026, to register, and for the September-December session, until October 31, 2026.
How to apply for a place at Imserso spas?Retirees have two ways to apply for a place at Imserso spas. The first (and most recommended due to its simplicity) is to do so online through the Imserso website. For this, no electronic authentication (Cl@ve, electronic certificate, or electronic ID) is required; simply fill out an online form with your personal information, preferred spas, and the desired travel date.
The other option is to download the application form from the Imserso electronic headquarters website and send it in a stamped envelope to the address 'Imserso Thermalism Program, P.O. Box 61.285 28080 Madrid', or submit it to the Imserso General Directorate (Madrid), the Ceuta Territorial Directorate, the Melilla Territorial Directorate and other offices designated by the autonomous communities.
Requirements to participate in Thermalism 2026Retirees wishing to participate in the Imserso 2026 Thermalism Program must meet a series of requirements :
- Being a retirement or permanent disability pensioner of the Spanish Social Security System.
- Being a widow 's pensioner aged 55 or over from the Spanish Social Security System.
- Being a pensioner for other reasons or receiving unemployment benefits or subsidies aged 60 or over from the Spanish Social Security System.
- Being an insured person or beneficiary of the Spanish Social Security System aged 65 or older.
In addition, pensioners must also:
- To be able to perform basic daily living activities independently .
- To need the requested thermal treatments and have no medical contraindication for receiving them.
- To achieve, in accordance with the established scoring system, the score that allows access to one of the requested spas and shifts.
As Imserso points out, Spanish nationals residing abroad who receive a pension from the Spanish Social Security system and meet the age requirement are also eligible to participate. Furthermore, participants may be accompanied by their spouses, registered partners, or those with whom they have a stable relationship, or by their children with a disability of 45% or more.
Prices of spas and services includedThe price of the Imserso 2026 Thermal Spa Program depends on the chosen spa and the month: the rate ranges from €302.14 to €452.90 per person . The included services are:
- Accommodation in a shared double room and full board.
- Medical examination upon entering the spa for the prescription of treatment.
- Thermal treatment prescribed by the spa's medical staff.
- Medical monitoring of treatment.
- Leisure and free time activities offered free of charge by the spa.
- Insurance policy.
By 2026, each stay will be 10 days (9 nights) long, from 12:00 PM on the day of arrival until 12:00 PM on the day of departure. Full board will be included. The participating spas are as follows:
