Located within the Arribes del Duero Park and bordering Portugal, it is a quiet and welcoming town, perfect for relaxing and disconnecting from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Aldeadávila de la Ribera is known for its powerful hydroelectric power plant, which harnesses the power of the Duero River to produce electricity. The dam bearing the same name was built in 1962 and is considered the most important hydroelectric engineering project in Spain in terms of power and electricity production.

The concrete dam structure is surrounded by mountains and stands approximately 139 meters high. The area is very popular with hikers, offering stunning panoramic views of the river and its surroundings.

What to see in Aldeadávila de la Ribera?

A visit to this medieval village should be done without rushing. You should walk through its old streets and admire the typical architecture of its houses, which surround several 18th-century palaces, chapels, and imposing churches. The Mirador del Fraile is a must-see, one of the numerous viewpoints in the area scattered along the banks of the Duero River. It offers the best views of the dam, as it is located very close to it. You can find it on the road that connects the town with the Aldeadávila dam.

Another worthwhile attraction is Playa del Rostro, on the banks of the Duero River. It has become one of the most visited areas of the natural park. You can enjoy various activities on its waters, such as canoeing and boat trips . It also has chairs and tables, perfect for relaxing while taking in the beautiful scenery.

Also known as Santa Marina or Laverde, it is a small town built on the slopes of the Duero River canyon. It emerged in the 12th century and currently has a population of around 25 people and is administratively dependent on Aldeadávila. The 15th-century convent of Santa Marina la Verde is located within its territory.
