A young man bathes and disappears in the Dordogne

The incident occurred this Saturday afternoon, May 31st. A young man who had been diving with his friend into the Dordogne River in the town of Port-Sainte-Foy-et-Ponchapt went missing after swimming. His friend was rescued. According to Ici Périgord, the two young people likely jumped from a bridge and were swept away by the current. While one of the two youths managed to escape, the other is still missing in the river.

A rescue team is on site and the search continues. A helicopter, a drone, and a nautical team with divers have been dispatched to the scene. With temperatures hovering around 30°C this Saturday, swimming was not yet permitted.
