At the agricultural show, Morocco's guest of honor status raises eyebrows among French market gardeners

Some producers denounce the "unfair competition" that Morocco exerts on the French fruit and vegetable market, particularly tomatoes.
Between Lahoucine and Dominique, "it's sometimes a bit of a war" when it's time to go shopping. While he has no qualms about buying Moroccan tomatoes and zucchini in the middle of winter, his wife prefers to buy from producers in Charente-Maritime. Strolling through the aisles of Pavilion 5 at the Parc des Expositions, this couple came from La Rochelle especially to see the vast stand of Morocco, guest of honor at the Salon de l'Agriculture. There, we meet many other Moroccans who are homesick, like Amal and Ikram, students in a master's degree in agri-food in Amiens from Fez and Marrakech respectively, who have come to rediscover familiar smells. They also admit that they sometimes favor Moroccan products in the vegetable section of the supermarket : "It's simply for the comforting feeling of finding something that comes from home."
In the neighbouring building dedicated to the plant sector, the market gardening groups are not all so enthusiastic about the idea of this carpet...
