As his tour of Southeast Asia comes to a close this Friday, May 30, French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the Gaza conflict at a press conference in Singapore. For the head of state, recognizing a Palestinian state is "not simply a moral duty, but a political requirement," he declared, while listing several conditions for taking the step.

Emmanuel Macron also stated that Europeans must "harden their collective position" against Israel "if there is no response that is commensurate with the humanitarian situation that is being provided in the coming hours and days" in the Gaza Strip.
