In Lyon, a prisoner escapes from prison in the laundry bag of a released man

The story could go down in the annals of prison escapes. A 20-year-old inmate managed to escape from the Lyon-Corbas remand center on Friday, July 11, by hiding in the laundry bag of his released cellmate. Prison officials discovered his absence the next day, according to information revealed by the BFM office in Lyon. "This is an extremely rare phenomenon that reveals a whole series of unacceptable dysfunctions," Sébastien Cauwel, central director of the prison administration, confirmed and commented on BFM-TV.
Mr. Cauwel stated that the escapee is now the subject of an Interpol red card. According to this international search request, Elyazid A., 20, nicknamed "Joker" or "Equalizer," is 1.72 m tall, is from Mayotte and is accused of murder by an organized gang and criminal conspiracy.
The prisoner was serving several cumulative prison sentences and was the subject of a committal order in a recent procedure linked to "serious crime" , the Lyon prosecutor's office said, without giving further details.
