After Olympique de Marseille's defeat this Saturday in Auxerre (3-0), the president of the Marseille club lost his temper in the aisles of the Abbé Deschamps.
Skip the adPablo Longoria completely lost his mind after his club's defeat (3-0) this Saturday in Auxerre. Following his comments against French refereeing , the president of Olympique de Marseille was summoned Wednesday by the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP), AFP learned Monday from several sources close to the case.
The Spanish leader, who should know his sanction on Wednesday evening, had notably spoken of "corruption" after the Auxerre-Marseille match (3-0) on Saturday evening , before "regretting" his remarks in an interview given to AFP on Monday.
"I want to say that there is no corruption in French football," he admitted in this interview, stating that the form of his outburst of anger on Saturday "was not appropriate" but was explained by "many refereeing decisions on which (he) considers that OM was disadvantaged."
Longoria's reaction after the match caused an outcry in the world of French football and was denounced by FFF president Philippe Diallo and refereeing director Antony Gautier. It also precipitated his summons before the LFP disciplinary committee, which should rule on his case on Wednesday evening, without putting the case under investigation.
At the League, as the case is so rare, no one is venturing to predict the punishment incurred by the Marseille manager, even if everyone expects a heavy sanction. If Pablo Longoria were suspended on Wednesday evening, he would not be able to attend a Board of Directors meeting of the League of which he is a member the next day, while the body is in dispute with DAZN, its main TV broadcaster.
