When Paul Allen suggested to Bill Gates (69) that he try alcohol, he got his first hangover. When he suggested that he smoke marijuana, he tried it. Then, when he convinced him to start a company together, they founded Microsoft , the first name of the software company that, from its infancy half a century ago, revolutionized computing. Microsoft's meteoric rise made Bill Gates a celebrity when he was only twenty years old. Since then, he has remained in the spotlight everywhere, first as a business leader, then as a philanthropist. However, his childhood and adolescence are much less well known. A year and a half ago, Gates decided to rummage through his memory chest. The result is Source Code ( Flammarion), a fascinating autobiography retracing his first 25 years , from his youth in Seattle to the creation of Microsoft.
