The government's plans to rebalance competition between taxis and VTCs

After the organisations of chauffeur-driven car drivers (VTC) on Monday, and the representatives of the platforms (Uber, Bolt, Heetch) on Tuesday, it was to the taxi unions that the government presented, on Wednesday, June 4, the avenues under consideration to improve "working conditions" in the sector and combat fraud.
This cycle of three meetings with various ministries (transport, labor, economy, etc.) and state services is one of the government's reactions to the national taxi strike, launched on May 19 .
Taxis had initially requested more controls and sanctions: this will be done, notably through the generalization, on July 1 , of three new fines, including failure to register in the VTC register and taking a customer without a reservation.
A drop in remunerationFabian Tosolini, national delegate for VTC delivery drivers at the Union-Indépendants union, nevertheless observed a change in tone: "The ministers acknowledged that the problem in the sector did not stem from driver fraud, as the majority of the sector is in compliance, but rather from the structuring of the platforms, which creates an imbalance between supply and demand that pushes people to accept the lowest-paid trips, and leads to the development of fleet managers who pay little attention to working conditions."
