War in Ukraine: Emmanuel Macron thinks that a "truce" is possible in the "coming weeks"

In an interview with Fox News broadcast on Tuesday, February 25 , Emmanuel Macron estimated that a "truce" between Ukraine and Russia is possible in "the coming weeks."
The French president welcomed the "positive initiative" of Donald Trump, who has multiplied initiatives and declarations on the war in Ukraine.
"We want peace," he declared, calling on the American president to "be careful." "Something substantial is needed for Ukraine and Europe," warned Emmanuel Macron. For the latter, the return of Donald Trump marks "a tipping point" in the conflict in Ukraine.
"There is a strong convergence of our interests for peace in Ukraine," said Emmanuel Macron, who highlighted "the importance of the American role" in establishing security guarantees.
For the French president, a ceasefire without security guarantees "does not hold", believing "that guarantees are needed for peace to be solid and the situation to be stable".
The French president was traveling to Washington to meet his American counterpart, who has been particularly active on the Ukrainian issue in recent days. Donald Trump spoke with Vladimir Putin in mid-February , leading Kiev and the European Union to believe that an agreement could be reached without them. On Monday, the American president said he was "convinced" that his Russian counterpart "wants to reach an agreement on Ukraine", believing that "it is in Russia's interest".
