Weather forecast for Sunday, July 20: six departments on orange alert for thunderstorms

The north-east of France is also affected by the passage of thunderstorms this Sunday, starting in the early afternoon.

As was the case the day before in the central east, the sky is expected to be unsettled this Sunday in the northeast of the country, with thunderstorms intensifying in the late afternoon in the Massif Central, Rhône-Alpes, Burgundy, Jura, and Grand Est, reports La Chaîne Météo *.
Rain will also be present in the west, from northern Aquitaine to the English Channel, passing through the Centre-Val de Loire region and the Paris basin. Temperatures are expected to range from 20 to 24°C in the west and from 30 to 33°C in the eastern half.
Due to the storms, six departments in the northeast will be affected by Météo-France's orange alert this Sunday afternoon, for a "significant stormy episode" with a "high probability of violent phenomena" .
Moselle, Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse, Vosges, Haute-Marne and Côte-d'Or will experience a "significant stormy episode requiring particular vigilance" , according to the organization's bulletin published at 6 a.m.
"At the beginning of Sunday afternoon, a fairly significant storm wave will affect the departments of Côte d'Or and Haute-Marne, then quickly spread to Lorraine in the afternoon ," with "wind gusts often between 70 and 90 km/h and occasionally reaching 100 to 120 km/h," specifies Météo-France.

The vigilance could "be extended to the bordering departments" of the six concerned in the northeast, with a risk of "violent gusts" and "hail especially present in Saône-et-Loire and Franche-Comté" .
The storms will move "towards the Benelux and Germany by late afternoon at the latest, but may be followed by showers and further thunderstorms." The risk of thunderstorms is not excluded in the central-eastern part of the country.
Skip the adStorms are developing "over the Massif Central and are moving rapidly towards the north of the Rhône-Alpes region" and in the evening and during the night from Sunday to Monday, "significant accumulations of rain are possible in a short time from Ardèche to Savoie" , indicates Météo-France.
The meteorological service calls for people to remain "informed" of developments in the situation, which "may lead to an extension of the orange alert" .
