"Your fucking attitude stinks": Oasis' Liam Gallagher speaks out, defends fans who have been called "overweight drunks"

"Your fucking attitude stinks": Oasis' Liam Gallagher speaks out, defends fans who have been called "overweight drunks"

These documents are the result of several meetings aimed at organizing the security of the three concerts of the two enemy brothers, which are to take place in August in the Scottish capital.

The Gallagher brothers announced at the end of August that they were reforming Oasis , the iconic Britpop band, for a series of concerts in the United Kingdom and Ireland, generating huge excitement 15 years after their split.

Now, a Scottish newspaper, the Scottish Sun, which had access to these documents, decided to publish the most juicy parts. These specifically target the band's fans, described as " overweight, middle-aged drunks."

For these elected officials, this supposed profile of Oasis fans is all the more problematic given that at the same time, the Scottish capital is the epicentre of another event: the Fringe, the largest theatre festival in the world.

It is due to be held in Edinburgh from 1 to 25 August.

According to them, the coincidence of these two events is problematic. They say they expect the rock band's fans to be "moderately to heavily" intoxicated. This has caused authorities to be "concerned" about the "safety" of Finge festival-goers. "Many theater professionals are considering not attending," they write. These comments prompted a scathing response from Liam Gallagher.

Around 210,000 people expected in Edinburgh

"I heard what you said about Oasis fans and frankly your fucking attitude stinks. I'd leave town that day if I was one of you," he wrote on X.

I'd love to see a picture of all the people on the Edinburgh council and there's some real STUNING individuals

"I'd love to see a picture of all these elected officials, I bet there are some really impressive individuals among them," he quipped in a second message.

"We're all looking forward to seeing Oasis perform in August ," Edinburgh's culture adviser, Margaret Graham, told the British PA news agency in an attempt to put an end to the controversy.

Around 210,000 people are expected to attend the band's three Edinburgh shows.

The UK competition regulator, the CMA, has reported that Ticketmaster has sold over 900,000 tickets to Oasis. Barclays estimates that nearly 1.4 million spectators will attend the concerts.
