'A real predator': 'Sex Education' actor sentenced to 15 years in prison for rape of minors

The rape and sexual abuse committed against his victims had become "a habit and a lifestyle," according to the court. Alexander Westwood, an actor in the Netflix series "Sex Education," was sentenced to 15 years in prison for these sex crimes committed against five victims.

Appearing in 17 episodes of the hit series where he played a student, the 24-year-old used his celebrity status to prey on his students in drama class, as reported by the BBC . In total, five victims were present at his trial, a 10-year-old boy, two teenage girls, and a woman. "He is a real predator and manipulator," the court summed up.

The judge said his "campaign of sexual offending" had " devastating consequences for the five victims ", adding that the actor had displayed an "apparently nonchalant attitude" that bordered on "arrogance".

In detail, the sexual abuse of his victims overlapped in time. Between November 2020 and September 2021, the actor attacked one of his drama students, forcing her to undress while she recited a monologue from Hamlet. The young teenager also said she was raped to imitate a masturbation scene from Bridgerton. Between May and August 2021, a second teenager was forced to act out an incest scene with him.

Alexander Westwood was charged with 77 counts, but only 26 of them were prosecuted. His sentences on 11 of the 26 counts were reduced by half because he was a minor at the time of the crimes. The actor will ultimately spend 15 years of his life in prison.
