A new festival is coming to Roquebrune-Cap-Martin: Cap sous les étoiles, between humor and music

A new festival is coming to Roquebrune-Cap-Martin: Cap sous les étoiles, between humor and music

Summer promises to be magical in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. Organized in the Cap-Martin park from July 17 to 19 by the town of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Directo Prod, the first edition of Cap sous les étoiles offers a program combining music and humor to satisfy all audiences. For the official presentation of the event a few days ago, and under a generous sun, Olivier Laurent and &rea – two artists to be found on the stage of the Cap-Martin park this summer – transformed the park entrance into an improvised stage.

The festival's opening night on July 17 will feature Olivier Laurent's performance of Brel! The Show. In a rare feat, Olivier Laurent doesn't sing Brel, he embodies him. During the event's presentation, the artist gave those in attendance a taste of his show by performing Ne me quitte pas and Amsterdam . just in front of the park's alleyway, where busts of personalities who lived in the city stand, among whom we find a certain... Jacques Brel. Under his skin, the Flemish artist's universal words come to life with an intensity that has already shaken the halls of Paris, Montreal, New York and even Dubai. And his relationship with the Belgian music giant goes beyond simple interpretation: "What I like about him is that he lives things 100%, and I have a bit of the same philosophy." The show promises total immersion, as evidenced by the artist's physical commitment: "Already, in normal times, I lose three kilos per show, and I'm not exaggerating. The musicians who accompany me know this because at the end, when we greet the audience, they don't touch me because I'm sweating so much and they extend their little fingers from afar when we have to hold hands."

From Michel Fugain to &rea, an evening between heritage and modernity

After the intensity of Breton music, it's time for the warm generosity of Michel Fugain on July 18. The 83-year-old artist will offer a retrospective of his six-decade career and unfold his procession of luminous titles, from Je n'aurais pas le temps to Une belle histoire , a repertoire that sounds like a soundtrack for several generations. Known for his infectious energy and sense of humor, Michel Fugain will be surrounded by his faithful troupe of musician-singers, promising a moment that is both festive and nostalgic.

As the opening act, the audience will be able to discover &rea, an artist with pop and electro influences, and whose introspective and sincere universe brings a contemporary touch to this evening. Just like Laurent Olivier, he too offered a glimpse of his universe to the first spectators by performing his song Jeux Dangereux . This concert given this summer is a godsend for the singer born in Monaco: " I haven't performed on stage yet, so it will be a great first and a very great honor to be alongside this immense artist that is Michel Fugain."

Programming a promising young artist and a well-known name in French song for the same evening is the essence of Cap sous les étoiles: bringing together eras, styles and emotions.

Laughter and lightness with Anne Roumanoff and Laurent Barat

To round off the event in style, Saturday, July 19th will be all about comedy. As a curtain-raiser, Nice native Laurent Barat will explore the joys and sorrows of being a couple in your 40s. The Côte d'Azur native, known for his devastating self-deprecation, will hit the mark with his tenderly mocking humor and promises a hilarious journey into the twists and turns of life in your forties. Right after, it's time for the queen of social observation: Anne Roumanoff. Her show, L'Expérience de la vie, promises to be a jubilant dive into the absurdities of everyday life, from supermarket self-checkouts to self-help books, the instability of romantic relationships, and the transformations of language.

Between shows, the Cap-Martin park will be transformed into a gigantic summer lounge. While the setting alone is worth the detour, spectators can relax and share specialties offered by several food trucks among the century-old olive trees that populate the park. Three nights, three atmospheres, and one certainty: the promise of beautiful evenings in an equally beautiful place, perched between the sea and the mountains.
