French director Coralie Fargeat is one of 12 figures from the global film industry to have been invited to join at least two of the Academy's 19 artist-only divisions. The director will have to decide whether to join the filmmakers or the screenwriters divisions. In total, there are 534 in the Class of 2025, the list of which was unveiled (link in English) on June 26.

Among them, many French people. The nominations garnered by Coralie Fargeat's The Substance and Jacques Audiard's Emilia Pérez have allowed several members of the teams of these films to join an academy that has more than 10,000 members worldwide.

The musicians who contributed to the soundtrack of the musical Emilia Pérez have been invited, namely Camille, Clément Ducol and Maxence Dussère. As have the sound engineers: Niels Barletta, Aymeric Devoldère and Erwan Kerzanet. The director of photography for Emilia Pérez , Paul Guilhaume, and the makeup artist Pierre-Olivier Persin, who worked on The Substance and The Count of Monte Cristo, are also on the prestigious list.

Like editors Valerie Feron ( The Substance ), Célia Lafitedupont ( The Count of Monte Cristo ) and Yann Dedet ( The Goldman Trial ) as well as the production designer of The Substance , Stanislas Reydellet. Pascal Caucheteux, producer of the films Emilia Pérez and A Prophet, is on the list of 534.

Aside from the French, the list also includes Mexican actress Adriana Paz, who appeared in Emilia Pérez. She was invited, unlike Spain's Karla Sofia Gascón, who sparked a controversy that tarnished the Oscar campaign for Jacques Audiard's latest film. American actress Margaret Qualley , who played the younger version of Demi Moore in Coralie Fargeat's The Substance , is among the new American members of the Academy.

Her colleagues and compatriots Ariana Grande ( Wicked ) and Mikey Madison ( Anora , Palme d'Or 2024 and Best Picture at the Oscars) will also vote for the next ceremony. On the American actors' side, we find among others Kieran Culkin ( A Real Pain ), Jason Momoa (Aquaman ), Sebastian Stan and Jeremy Strong ( The Apprentice ).

Also in the comedy branch, the Brazilian Fernanda Torres ( I Am Still Here by Walter Salles, Oscar for Best International Film) and the British Naomi Ackie ( Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody ) and Gilian Anderson ( The Last King of Scotland ) were invited.

The Chinese Bi Gan, whose latest film Resurrection was presented at the last Cannes Film Festival, the Iranian Saeed Roustaee, also in the running for the Palme d'Or with Woman and Child , the Spanish filmmaker Albert Serra ( Pacifiction: Torment on the Islands ), the Israeli Elia Suleiman ( It Must Be Heaven ) and the Swede Magnus von Horn ( The Young Woman with a Needle ) are joining the filmmakers. The director of Flow , the Latvian Gints Zilbalodis, will be able to join them or opt for two other professions.

Palestinian filmmaker Maha Haj ( Mediterranean Fever ) , also invited to the screenwriting section, and her compatriots, documentary filmmakers Basel Adra and Hamdan Ballal, who made No Other Land, are also part of the 2025 class. Indian Payal Kapadia, director and screenwriter of All We Imagine as Light (Grand Prix at Cannes in 2024), was invited to the authors' house.

On the African continent, Senegalese musician Youssou N'Dour ( Kirikou and the Witch ) , Moroccan Asmae El Moudir ( The Mother of All Lies ) and Tunisian producer Habib Attia (Kaouther Ben Hania's Les Filles d'Olfa ) will join the Academy of Oscars.
