Doctolib warns its users against the increase in scams on the platform

Faced with the rise in scams and the number of potential victims, Doctolib has decided to take action. According to Ouest-France, the platform recently sent a warning email to its users and also posted an awareness and best practices guide to combat scams.

In recent weeks, Doctolib has once again been the victim of identity theft and a phishing campaign by scammers. They impersonate the platform by sending deceptive text messages and emails that mimic all the visual codes of the official website but contain links to fraudulent sites where your personal information or banking data can be stolen, in an attempt to extort money from you.

This scam is the second of its kind in just a few months. In the spring, numerous phishing attempts were reported. The messages sent promised users a refund for their last visit, up to €23. It was all fake.

"Phishing attempts […] are becoming increasingly sophisticated. It is essential to know how to identify them in order to adopt the right reflexes and avoid the traps," warns Doctolib on the dedicated page of its website.

The platform then provides some advice on how to verify the authenticity of messages received: "Authentic messages from Doctolib only come from the sender "Doctolib," which will appear on your phone. We will never contact you from a personal number," it states.

Emails can only be sent from the following addresses:

On Gmail and Yahoo, these official emails are also marked with a blue verification badge.

"Beware of alarming messages," Doctolib warns. "If a message suggests an emergency (imminent deletion of your account, payment to be made or penalty), it's probably a phishing attempt."

If you are the victim of a scam attempt, do not click on any links, do not download any attachments, and do not enter your login or banking information. Immediately verify the authenticity of the message by going directly to the official Doctolib website without going through the link received. You can also view your appointment history from your secure account.

Report the attempted fraud via the government platform www.internet-signalement.gouv.fr and possibly to Doctolib at [email protected].
