He's performing this Saturday evening at 109 in Nice: we asked three questions to Dimitri From Panisse, a DJ from Nice.

In an era where most clubs play popular, commercial tracks, Dimitri from Panisse cultivates the art of the eclectic dancefloor. This Nice native, passionate about South American rhythms and ethnic grooves, shakes up the norm with his Tropical Nights, sets that combine Afro-disco, vintage funk, and electronic gems. He'll be at 109 in Nice this Saturday night, and also in Tourrette-Levens on July 5th for the Fête de la Zonmé, before returning to 109 on July 9th for Belaprem'.

How would you describe the style of music you play during your sets?

It's not really linear, there can be music from Brazil (where I've been twice), cumbia, afro, bass music, house... music that I like. My goal is to bring together and mix music as well as the audience. I enjoy myself and I think that when you enjoy yourself, you can pass it on.

You can mix digitally, but also with vinyl. How do you reconcile the two?

Digital is still more practical, it saves you from lugging around crates and crates of records. When I can't find certain tracks, I sometimes digitize vinyl. I'm very attached to sound. I buy all my music, I don't pirate anything. It's important that it's good quality and not too compressed. I love looking for new songs.

Exactly, which one did you find and which will be in your next sets?

The latest one is Wheel & Bubble , by Sam Interface, an Englishman who makes bass music and uses a lot of African music, Van Basten and Swappi. I think it's a song that sums up my tastes well.
