The actor's former home, bequeathed to the city of Meaux, retains the imprint of his generous and nonconformist personality. Stephane Vallee / City of Meaux
The actor's former home in Monthyon, Seine-et-Marne, and its 3-hectare park bear witness to his generous and nonconformist personality. Photographs and objects evoke the many figures who frequented his table.

In the dining room of the Monthyon estate, the table is set: fine china plates, crystal glasses, silverware, a lace tablecloth, and even a bottle of white Saumur, whose label bears the name of the host, seem to be waiting for the guests. Nine people, not one more given the cramped space of the room, covered from floor to ceiling in Louis XV woodwork and a painted decor depicting a garden with a gushing fountain. On a mannequin, an impeccably pressed Dior tuxedo, the Legion of Honor pinned to the chest, recalls the dandyish silhouette of Jean-Claude Brialy.
