La Chaux-du-Dombief. Hiking trails: a major marking operation in Grandvaux

"Three sites required changes to their route," explains Pascale Pêcheur, head of the operation and member of FF Randonnée Jura.
In La Chaux-du-Dombief, the castle trail leading to the Pic de l'Aigle, which was too slippery, was unmarked for safety reasons and remarked towards the car park, from the old tacot route. In the same area, the committee modified the route of the GR559 between “Grange de Maguenay” and “La Joux-derrière.” “The objective is to take the GR out of the forest to cross the village of La Chaux-du-Dombief, take advantage of the shops and provide access to the Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux train station from Saint-Pierre.”
Finally, in Foncine-le-Bas, the Jura Escape route has been diverted to run along the Bief de la Ruine and take advantage of the waterfall's development following the work carried out by the Champagnole-Nozeroy community of communes. "This represents a total of 29.5 km of work," explains Pascale Pêcheur.
The markers, all trained by the CRPD, came from seven Jura hiking clubs: Godillots du Plateau du Lizon, La Chaux bon pied (La Chaux-du-Dombief), Les Crapahuts (Saint-Laurent-en-Grandvaux), Granges-Rando (Granges-sur-Baume), the COC (Clairvaux Multi-Sports Committee), Morbier-Rando and the Foyer rural de Fraisans.
Please note that the Jura Departmental Council manages the 5,000 km of hiking trails in the Jura. It implements the Departmental Plan of Walking and Hiking Routes (PDIPR), which identifies and protects hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and trail running trails. It promotes hiking trails through Jura Tourisme: creation of map guides and the Jura Outdoor app. It provides financial assistance to the EPCI (public inter-municipal cooperation establishments) that maintain and mark the network. This assistance amounts to €11/km.
Municipalities, hiking clubs (including the FF Randonnée Jura committee), tourist organizations and private landowners are also among the stakeholders who work to provide hikers with quality routes.
