Leisure. What's on this weekend around Colmar?

What's on this weekend in and around Colmar? The Venice Carnival, albeit under the Alsatian sky, is beckoning you this weekend in Riquewihr. If you're looking for a bit of fresh air, head to the mountain festival at the Glasborn farmhouse inn. Find these suggestions, and many more, in our weekly selection.

Colorful strolls through the city streets, a Venetian market... The town of Riquewihr is once again hosting the Venetian Parade. The event is free.

The mystery is well maintained... No part of the body should be visible, except for the eyes. Behind the masks, the costumed figures play their roles in silence. The loving couple encounters the jester. The marquis rubs shoulders with characters of sad or joyful appearance. More than 80 costumed figures will parade through the historic center.

A Venetian market

All participants make their own costumes. Riquewihr residents are invited to come and applaud them; they themselves are not doomed to silence.

These Venetian days are organized by two associations: Art et Culture, in Riquewihr, and Rêveries vénitiennes d'Yvoire, in the Rhône-Alpes region, a group of Venetian costume enthusiasts. Their goal: to promote Venetian carnivals in France.

On the program

Saturday, July 5: at 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., parade on Rue du Général-de-Gaulle. At 6 p.m., free stroll. At 9 p.m., presentation of the costumes on Place de la Mairie. Sunday, July 6: At 3 p.m., procession of the costume parade, still on Rue du Général-de-Gaulle.

All weekend long, from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday until 6 p.m., a Venetian market will take over the Town Hall Square. From 2 p.m., there will be face painting sessions.

Whether fries, pancakes, or grilled, potatoes will be enjoyed in all their forms this weekend in Wickerschwihr during the Potato Festival. Concerts and various activities will punctuate these two days. The new format of the Potato Festival, a flagship event in Riquewihr, has proven itself since its launch in 2023. The entire event, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, will once again take place in the heart of the village, on the Town Hall Square, in front of the church and on the Grand-Rue, and no longer in farmyards as in the past.

The three knocks will be given on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. with the gospel jazz concert of the forty choristers of the local ensemble Cecilia's Swing under the direction of Erich Vogt-Caldérara, at the church.

Artists closer to the public

The next day, the festivities will resume in full force at 11 a.m. The aperitif concert, led by the Alsatian Hans Krainer Band, which will delight fans of “Oberkrainer” style music, will begin an hour later.

In the afternoon, an illusionist, a singing magician, and a caricaturist will perform up close to the audience, while children can have fun in a dedicated play area. Visitors can, of course, purchase sacks of potatoes on site.

Saturday, July 5th from 6:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 6th from 11 a.m. in Wickerschwihr. Free admission.

Soultzeren: mountain festival at the Glasborn farm inn

A warm atmosphere is on the horizon just a stone's throw from the Linge Pass this Sunday. The Glasborn farmhouse inn is inviting two Austrian bands—the Jungen Waldensteiner and Volks beat—to its Barikelb. For this "old-fashioned" mountain festival, admission is free from noon to 9 p.m. A candy toss will be offered for children at 3 p.m. While lunch requires a reservation, this won't be the case for enjoying grilled food and the cocktail bar throughout the afternoon.

Sunday, July 6, from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Glasborn farmhouse inn, Wettstein-Linge Hoernleskopf Glasborn, Soultzeren. Lunch available by reservation at 03 89 77 37 78.

The Fresch'n Co association is organizing its 21st Frog Festival, as the Herrlisheimois nickname is, throughout the weekend in the town hall park. To kick off the festivities, a neon party celebrating the 1980s and 1990s kicks off on Friday evening. The next day, the atmosphere changes with the Willerthaler Volkmusic. Sunday, a packed program begins at 11:30 a.m. with an aperitif followed by an afternoon of dancing hosted by Christian Alter before the highly anticipated Miss Frog 2025 pageant. For food, frog legs, frog pie, spit-roasted ham, and tartes flambées. A portion of the profits will be donated to Arame, which supports children with cancer.

Herrlisheim-près-Colmar town hall park from Friday July 4 to Sunday July 6.
