Leisure. What's on this weekend around Colmar?

On Saturday, May 24, the "Sportez Nature!" campaign kicks off the summer season at the Colmar-Houssen water sports center. Each outdoor sports club will have its own stand within the pop-up village and will introduce diving, triathlon, and orienteering to young and old.
With 17,000 members, 49% of whom are women, sports are thriving in Colmar. This Saturday, May 24, during the "Sportez Nature!" event, the "Alsace eco-events" program will welcome young and old to try orienteering, diving, archery, and much more. The pop-up market set up for the event will house the stands of 24 sports associations and clubs that have responded to the invitation of the municipal sports office, organizer of the event with the support of Colmar Agglomeration and the City.
An orienteering course
The Colmar orienteering club, for example, will offer a free orienteering course with around forty markers, "which you'll have to punch to prove your passage," explains André Mertz, club secretary. The courses can be adapted in terms of time and accessibility. The event will remain in place all summer in the forest south of the lake. The organizer reassures: "You won't be able to get lost. If in doubt, you'll have to follow the lake to return to the ticket office."
Awareness stands on wildlife and sports in natural environments will be run by the Bird Protection League and the Hohrod Mountain Gendarmerie Platoon.
The Colmar archery club will introduce all curious people from the age of 6. Demonstrations by the club's archers will be able to convince even the most hesitant. Sylvie Becker Fehrenbach, president of the municipal sports office and the Colmar Triathlon Club, is behind the Sportez Nature project. "Our goal is to make a sport accessible to everyone and at all levels. Even if people only come to try it for the day, it will give them some fresh air and help them discover the water sports center and its wooded areas."

Orbey: the voice of the peaks, a concert at the summit
This Sunday, the Sainte-Catherine church in Basses-Huttes will resound with the sounds of Handel cantatas, Henry Du Mont motets, and other harpsichord pieces. The two soloists, Julien Freymuth, a crystal-clear countertenor, and Jérôme Mondésert, a harpsichordist, have responded favorably to the Basses-Huttes Living Heritage Association's invitation to offer Baroque music and song in a performance poetically titled La voix des cimes (The Voice of the Peaks).
Sunday, May 25, from 5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at Sainte-Catherine Church in Orbey. Free admission, with a presentation to partially fund the restoration of the Schwenkedel organ in Basses-Huttes.

A big first in the city of Brand, more than a hundred strange vehicles will hurtle down the bends of Brand during the first soapbox race this Sunday.
Let us recall here that this sport originated in the United States in the 1930s, where soap boxes were literally transformed into rolling objects, before becoming popular mainly in Europe.
A popular event
Today, far from the old wooden crates, real competitions are taking place, between teams making a point of honour of making the most original or fun vehicle possible... sometimes to the detriment of road holding!
Organized by the Turckheim Sports Association, the event was designed as a great popular event: “AS Turckheim has been working for months to make this first event a real celebration for the whole village.
Various food and drink stands will be located throughout the course, particularly in Place de la République and at the Foyer André. The entire club is involved, from seniors to the youngest, including parents, managers, committee members, and club supporters! ", the organizers rejoice.
Sunday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Three descents starting from the D10.7, finishing on Boulevard Charles-Grad. Free access, snacks, and entertainment. Traffic and parking restrictions are expected.
