Sunday Interview. Brigitte Lahaie: "We completely missed the sexual revolution."

A passionate horsewoman, Brigitte Lahaie recounts in her latest novel, Utopia , the inextricable bond between humankind and its noblest conquest. From animal welfare to women's sexuality and the end of life, the former porn actress, always at the forefront of the intimate with her daily radio show, confidently analyzes today's society and its changes.
Why did you embark on this novel project and on this theme?

"I've had this passion for horses since I was little, ever since I saw Crin Blanc , and this book, Utopia, began after a lunch with Pierre Durand, the Olympic champion rider with Jappeloup. I wanted to give one of my mares a voice, even if the novel doesn't depict reality."

Despite everything, are there any points in this novel that are autobiographical?

"Horse riding is a real passion of mine, and when I wrote this novel, I obviously put a lot of myself into it, a lot of experiences that I've encountered myself. But at the same time, I don't think the heroine, Lise, is very much like me. I think she's very, very different from the way I've lived my emotional life. What I found interesting was precisely to tell the story of the life of a young woman who, first of all, lost her mother very young and has there, through the closeness she has with this mare, a relationship...
