A quick reminder for the uninitiated: every year, the 25H Fun Cup, a rather unusual endurance car race, takes place on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. The site becomes the scene of a captivating battle between drivers from all walks of life. The formula was created and developed with the aim of enjoying motorsport at a minimum cost, in a relaxed atmosphere and at the wheel of a one-make car accessible to all: the legendary and mythical Beetle, transformed into a real, reliable and high-performance racing car. So much for the scenery.

This year again, the Currus Racing team will be taking part and will be competing against 125 other crews. The race will take place on July 3, 4, 5, and 6. Thionville residents Jean Cordier and Raphaël Renaudin are in the starting blocks. The former is the team manager, the latter is the driver. "In total, there will be six of us taking the wheel," explains Raphaël Renaudin. "We'll be driving for twenty-five hours in turns." "That's the principle of the race," continues Jean Cordier. "The car is running all the time, except for changing tires, brakes, and drivers. And refueling, of course." The car? A Beetle with a three-piece monobloc polyester body, a tubular chassis with an integrated roll cage, a VW Motorsport 2L mid-rear engine with a power output of 180 hp at 6,000 rpm, and a five-speed sequential gearbox. All this for a minimum weight of 780 kg! "Since it's a two-seater, we can bring partners," says Jean Cordier, who has participated in the event multiple times: eleven times as a driver and six times as team manager. The goal is clear for the Thionville riders: to reach the podium in the two-seater category. Thursday is the day for free practice, and Friday for qualifying.

Departure Saturday at 4:50 p.m. Come on, get your tires on!
