It's been difficult to get your hands on Gruyère at Migros in recent weeks, Le Temps has noted. The company confirmed to the newspaper that it has been experiencing supply problems since the beginning of June. These problems are affecting not only Gruyère, but also the national supply of cheeses and other dairy products, it reads.
Migros explains that its dairy partner, Elsa Group, "carried out an IT system migration that caused significant logistical problems." The Gruyère Interprofessional Association says it is aware of this problem, even though it cannot influence the final distribution of the cheeses. The organization says it has not observed any negative effects on the Swiss market due to this glitch. Migros specifies that the situation has normalized in recent days for fresh cheeses and yogurts, but continues for the national supply of hard cheeses.
