Air-conditioned campsite, swimming pool... The first holidaymakers adapt their stay to the heatwave

The summer holidays are beginning with a heatwave for thousands of French people. A campsite in the Var region has taken measures to combat the heat.
After a 900 km drive from the Paris region, a retired couple finally arrived at a campsite in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes). For them, like many French people , the holidays began with temperatures already very high for the start of the summer season. In the Var region, the manager of a campsite has invested in 17 heat-resistant mobile homes for the comfort of holidaymakers.
"White flat roofs to reflect heat, plus 160mm insulation to absorb heat," explains Christophe Defert, director of the "La Bastianne" campsite in Puget-sur-Argens (Var). "When you're inside, you gain between five and seven degrees compared to a classic mobile home," he explains. All the campsite's bungalows are also equipped with air conditioning. But with 34 degrees in the afternoon, it's at the pool that we find the holidaymakers. A change in customer habits that the director has clearly noticed.
