Barr. New at the tourist office: a fun, multi-sensory tour of the city

The Barr Tourist Office offers an interesting and original stroll through the town. Led by Bénédicte Gonnet, visitors will engage their five senses using a backpack filled with surprise objects.
"The concept was born from a desire to introduce visitors to heritage in a different way, by engaging their senses, curiosity, and imagination. An initial test was conducted with the office team, following Bénédicte Gonnet's identification and creation of the tour. The enthusiastic feedback confirmed the value of offering this format to the general public," explains Ophélie Peltier, reception and quality manager in charge of events.
With the latest adjustments incorporated, the tour's originality lies in its multi-sensory and playful approach, where visitors are active throughout the journey.
The walking tour, accessible to all, begins at the Town Hall Square, around the church, along the Kirchberg vineyard, then returns to the city center via Rue des Cigognes, Rue de la Kirneck, etc., to the tourist office. We will not reveal anything more about the content of the sensory tour, the guide is keen to ensure the surprise effect is total for the participants.
"The history of tanneries, the great flood, trades, and certain lost professions will of course be explored, from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and up to the present day... All the stages through which the town of Barr has passed," adds the tourist office. Those with a curious mind, history buffs, and puzzle lovers will be captivated.
A first visit took place on Tuesday, July 22, with 11 participants, who played the game and fully appreciated this innovative initiative.
Upcoming multi-sensory tours: July 29, August 5 and 12 at 5 p.m. Free, by reservation at the Barr, Dambach-la-Ville or Le Hohwald tourist office at 03 88 08 66 65.
