Taking advantage of his hearing before a Senate commission of inquiry into state aid to businesses, the CEO of the world's leading luxury group sent a short message to the President of the Republic on Wednesday, May 21. On April 3, the day after Donald Trump announced a massive increase in tariffs on European products imported into the United States, Emmanuel Macron had launched an appeal to French groups : "What would be the message of having major European players start investing billions of euros in the American economy at a time when they're hitting us?" And while the American president quickly announced the three-month suspension of his measure, the debate on how to respond has not yet died down.
