Bordeaux-Toulouse line: train service partially restored from Wednesday, May 28

Bordeaux-Toulouse line: train service partially restored from Wednesday, May 28

In Tonneins, where the ballast was washed away by a stream overflowing and the rail was deformed by the passage of a train at that time, SNCF Réseau workers have been working since Wednesday, May 21, to repair the track and restore interrupted traffic.

"This resumption," SNCF Réseau wrote in a press release, "will allow certain trains to run for departures on the Ascension Day holiday and for Sunday evening returns. This is the result of an exceptional mobilization of SNCF Réseau teams and companies who have committed all necessary resources to achieve this objective. The first critical phase of earthworks, that is to say, the reconstruction of the platform weakened by the bad weather, went well and is now complete." More than 160 trucks of excavation and backfill were required.

Nearly 70 people are working on the construction site in three shifts to meet the schedule. Track-laying work begins this Sunday. Ballasting will follow on Monday and Tuesday. SNCF Réseau assures: "The work and inspections should be completed Tuesday evening, allowing partial traffic to resume in this area on Wednesday."
