Clara Chappaz, Minister of Digital Affairs and holder of 320,000 euros of shares... in the digital sector

Can a minister hold more than €300,000 worth of shares in companies related to her own sector? Appointed in September 2024 as Secretary of State for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs in the Barnier government, then promoted in December of the same year to Minister Delegate for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Affairs in the Bayrou government, Clara Chappaz declared a generous share portfolio to the HATVP (High Authority for Transparency in Public Life) on April 28 .

The life insurance policy worth more than 1 million euros includes 630,000 euros of various investments in companies, to which is added a direct investment in two unlisted companies for an amount of 210,000 euros.

However, within this portfolio there are no less than 320,000 euros of stakes in digital companies, in other words directly linked to the sector for which she is responsible.

The minister holds shares in Alphabet (Google) worth 17,425 euros, Amazon worth 18,705 euros, Microsoft worth 23,573 euros, Accenture worth 18,014 euros, Nvidia (electronic chips for AI companies) worth 23,751 euros, KLA Corporation (semiconductors) worth 18,677 euros, and ST Microe
