Coca-Cola, wipes, chocolate spread, coffee... Why are they more expensive in France?

Coca-Cola, wipes, chocolate spread, coffee... Why are they more expensive in France?

Multinationals selling their products throughout Europe fragment the market, allowing them to charge different prices depending on the country.

The price difference for the same product can be staggering between France and Germany. For example, a 125cl bottle sells for €1.80 here, compared to €1.49 across the Rhine. LP/Delphine Goldsztejn

A deodorant found at your Spanish holiday destination is half the price of what it is in France, a Coca-Cola or Pampers wipes are more expensive in France than in Germany ... While the European market is supposed to be "unique," from one country to another, products that are more or less the same are not sold at the same price. And the price difference can be impressive!

According to exclusive data we collected from the Everest purchasing center (which brings together several European distributors, including Intermarché, Auchan and Casino), Senseo pods, displayed at an index of 100 in Germany, reach an index of 120, i.e. 20% more expensive in France!
