Consumption: meal vouchers can now be used on Sundays

Restaurant vouchers can now be used on Sundays, particularly for food shopping. 5.5 million French people benefit from them, but restaurateurs are furious that these meal vouchers are not reserved exclusively for their establishments and are aimed at the ever-increasing competition from supermarkets.
It will soon be possible to use meal vouchers to shop on Sundays. A boon for this engineer, who has nearly €170 worth of meal vouchers available on his phone. He explains: " For us consumers, the more freedom we have to spend these euros on meal vouchers, the better. " Conversely, they will not be available on public holidays and will soon be entirely dematerialized in 2027.
Conversely, restaurant owners are much less enthusiastic about this government reform. While customers will now be able to pay their bills on Sundays, they denounce the ever-increasing competition from supermarkets. For restaurateur Christophe Soret, the taste is bitter: "The restaurant voucher customers who used to come no longer eat in restaurants. That represents €100 to €300 per day in revenue. Over a month, that amounts to €10,000."
